Cardiac First Response Course (community level)

CPR and AED skills for everyone

This course is intended for members of the public as well as health care professionals. his course meets all the requirements set out by phecc.

Contents - cardiac emergencies, aspirin administration, defibrillator (AED), scene management, respiratory and airway obstruction, infant child and adult CPR.

Cost - 60 pp

Duration - 4 hours.

Accreditation - 2 year certification

This is a four-hour course and is intended for the public giving them the ability to recognise life-threatening emergencies and deal with these emergencies until the arrival of the medical emergency services.


Course Content

  • Casualty Assessment

  • Chain of Survival (Adult, Children and Infants)

  • AED Use (Automated External Defibrillator)

  • Aspirin Administration for heart attack

  • How to place a casualty in the recovery position

  • How to deal with the 4 major life threatening emergencies heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke and choking.

The CPR Course uses a recognised PHECC DVD to guide in practice, using a watch and practice methodology has proven to be very helpful in gaining the correct and consistent method of resuscitation.
